Construction Schedule
Site work has already begun on the new Buffalo Soldier Acres neighborhood which will house 432 new homes for Senior Non Commissioned Officers, Command Sergeants Major, Company Grade Officers and Field Grade Officers. During the summer of 2011, vertical construction will begin, and the first homes are set to be completed in January 2012.
In addition to the work on Buffalo Soldier Acres, Picerne has already completed an exterior painting project on 16 homes in Southern Plains. Work has also recently begun to renovate the interiors of 25 homes in that neighborhood. During the renovation of non-historic residences, homes will receive kitchen and laundry upgrades, new flooring and paint, new lighting and plumbing fixtures, and the addition of a safe room. Historic renovations will begin in March - with nearly 150 historic and non-historic homes receiving renovations in 2012.
This summer, work will begin on the first of three Neighborhood Centers. The Southern Plains Neighborhood Center will be built near the current Picerne Military Housing Southern Plains Neighborhood Office. The state-of-the-art center will be approximately 10,000 square feet and will offer amenities such as a swimming pool, computer lab, fitness center, children’s play room, kitchen and meeting space. The Southern Plains Neighborhood Center is scheduled for completion in June 2013. Construction on Old Cavalry Post Neighborhood Office and swimming pool will begin in November 2012 and the Buffalo Soldier Acres Neighborhood Center in 2016.
